Creatures

I want to illuminate the what can be perceived when looking at the world both closely and from a distance. Borrowing the computer language of pixel color segments, the silk squares reference the microcosm of cellular structure and how it resolves into ever larger organisms.  I want to represent—with only a few thousand pieces—the glorious complexity of our world.

Each piece is composed of hand-dyed silk squares, sewn together as lightly as possible to maintain the original softness and fluidity of the silk.

These pieces are an exercise in color.  After years of learning to dye, I wanted to push myself to understand how individual colors combine to make a unified impact
